The trailer tells us Italian Food and Wine Tourism Report 2023 by Roberta Garibaldi, revealing which are the most well-known and appreciated typical dishes among food tourists. The report, carried out under the auspices of’Italian Food and Wine Tourism Association, it will be presented in May.
According to the initial revelations, Emilian filled pasta seems to be beating Neapolitan pizza.’Emilia-Romagna indeed it has been predicted at the top of the rankings, Given that almost all respondents are aware of the region's typical dishes as representative of the territory: here are what they are and the complete ranking.
Ranking of the most famous Italian typical dishes
The results show Italian regions whose typical dishes are immediately associated as excellences of the territory.
At the top of the league, the...’Emilia-Romagna: 80% of respondents were able to name at least one typical dish from the region and the most well-known is the% Tortellino (39%), in front of the Piadina (17%).
In second place is the Campania (77%), primarily thanks to Pizza (37%) and to Buffalo mozzarella from Campania (18%).
Bronze medal for the Sicily with the 76%: the best-known product is a dessert, namely the cannoli (23%) , followed by the Arancini (18%).
In fourth place are Calabria and Lazio a quota 73%, with a jump of as many as seven positions from the 2021 edition of the Report to the current one. The first for cured meats, the second for pasta carbonara, amatriciana and cacio e pepe.
Sixth place belongs to Liguria, which, conversely, expresses the recipe with the absolute highest score among those indicated by the reference sample: more than one in two respondents indeed linked Ligurian cuisine to pesto.
Over 70% of the sample can name at least one product from Puglia and in my head there are the orecchiette; immediately after comes the Lombardy, where the idea of Risotto.
At ninth place, the Tuscany, mainly linked to Steak.
Tenth place for the Sardinia, with the Carasau bread in front of Suckling pig and pecorino.
The second part of the ranking opens with the Piedmont On top Bagna cauda, which precedes the Trentino-Alto Adige with the Canederli and the Veneto reconnected to wine.
The’Abruzzo marks the dividing line between regions for which at least half of the respondents can name a typical dish and, in the case of Abruzzese cuisine, the decisive factors are Arrosticini (34%).
Falling below the% recognition threshold of 50%, we find in order: Friuli-Venezia Giulia with the wine iconic product, Aosta Valley where dominates the Fondue, Umbria firstly truffle, Market with the Ascolana olives and Basilicata with the Crispy pepper.
To close the table is the Moliseonly two out of ten interviewees are able to name a typical Molise dish, with the most popular being, jointly, the Pasta, the Caciocavallo and the wine.
